Frequently Asked QuestionsA: We update this resource bi-monthly with all the latest findings, as well as whenever any notable new studies come to light. Last Updated: November 2021A: The password system is only in place so that we know who's accessing the data! We're happy to share any and all information about cannabinoid science upon request. By tracking who requests access, we can directly connect with veterinary professionals, researchers, and curious customers in our community to answer any questions they may have. A: While we've gathered data on cannabinoid usage and safety in animals besides dogs (such as cats, horses, birds, rabbits, etc.), we prefer to discuss these findings directly with curious parties, as they're more nuanced. We strongly recommend emailing us or giving us a call if you have questions about using cannabinoids with other animals! Studies show that humans and dogs have fundamentally similar endocannabinoid systems, so clinical results of cannabinoid usage in humans are typically nearly identical to those reported in dogs. However, dogs have particularly sensitive endocannabinoid systems and slightly different distributions of cannabinoid receptors in the brain, so cannabinoids often have more potent effects in dogs than in humans. This is particularly true with THC; in smaller amounts, it can be very useful, but in larger amounts, it can be more toxic for animals than in humans. |

We realized back in 2015 that the biggest problem with cannabinoid effectiveness in animals is human error with dosing. Although our product is not psychoactive (nor does it cause sleepiness), we saw a lot of customers who would underdose, and then report that they weren't having much success. Thanks to those experiences, we know how crucial it is to support our clients with proper education to successfully use cannabinoids for canine wellness.
- Dr.Hempdog's highly educated customer service team is available 9a-5p MT, Monday thru Friday, to get on the phone with your clients and a.) educate them on how the endocannabinoid system works, b.) recommend best dosing practices for their animals' unique situation, and c.) answer all their questions in one go. If they decide to use our product, we will follow up with them after seven days of use to ensure they are having maximum success.
